I’m still surprised how long the shuttles lay quiet in the drawer. There were some tatting accomplishments along the way which were unreported. This post rewinds to show the final destination for the <a href="https://tattingjohn.blogspot.com/2012/06/last-pass-underway.html" target="_blank">‘Edge Without a Cause’</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; What better way to reduce stress than tat a hanky edge. For me, the repetition of rings and chains is quite therapeutic. The familiarity of the pattern allows one to breathe in and breathe out drifting in and out of different thoughts and dreams.<br />
<br />
A few more days and I will finish the second round of the wedding hanky.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
As I noted in a previous post, the corners have been challenging. I really don't know what I was thinking. Let's just mark it up to being a bit rusty. After the first two 'misses', I figured out the clover sequence that works....however, I didn't have the heart to retrotat nor did I want to rip out and discard the work I had completed. So, on the second round I've been improvising on each of the corners, adding additional doubles here and there.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The idea that a bride must have something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue....this will have all covered except the borrowed piece. A vintage hanky with newly tatted blue edge will begin as a base for the rest of the piece. I finished the first round this morning after a year on hold.<br />
<br />
I'm a bit rusty on several things as a result of my hiatus with several mistakes on the corners....I have no clue what I was thinking. AND, I need to review how to join last to first...., other than that, it's fine and DONE.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSTA6cacsOPFS3-cu4TkK9EvMdwBdBpc3LWLFJNEDTgnfjq-O31U1PcQmdQFiybRecLY-ihA52f_-gUC_pI1hDMXvXPb7ZLyE_KKL9TWUh77Ryb6jLZHvayXo8DyJX4gmf0LfZC1eph2k/s480/blogger-image-923045944.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="360" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSTA6cacsOPFS3-cu4TkK9EvMdwBdBpc3LWLFJNEDTgnfjq-O31U1PcQmdQFiybRecLY-ihA52f_-gUC_pI1hDMXvXPb7ZLyE_KKL9TWUh77Ryb6jLZHvayXo8DyJX4gmf0LfZC1eph2k/s320/blogger-image-923045944.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And another view</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpJDcMDFVEy4MgJ21mmbo85PJY_Qp4qVP0YBKz6lpLEDlmhCofuzedF6N2Epj6WkGWwWYy1cJrDHHSrywvc0v2RCRTInA_GPueuaYYAq4cQrin1alWdYP4t-HyBAcEg2L9mi0r0bGpQ2k/s640/blogger-image--162174885.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpJDcMDFVEy4MgJ21mmbo85PJY_Qp4qVP0YBKz6lpLEDlmhCofuzedF6N2Epj6WkGWwWYy1cJrDHHSrywvc0v2RCRTInA_GPueuaYYAq4cQrin1alWdYP4t-HyBAcEg2L9mi0r0bGpQ2k/s200/blogger-image--162174885.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And, just a reminder of my plans for this one...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyWEgwUVRA89pvtINwnH_ueUqam3PInwX4LCux0c3nIMKzVeW4ODu_r2deqtHHhOr60QZYjpYGbXVQuPqgi3AZW2I5h-Tgk7xuMDrXXKnMbvF2ks6aGinEmPSDrjaztus8z-V_M2OdCyk/s640/blogger-image-1362613374.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyWEgwUVRA89pvtINwnH_ueUqam3PInwX4LCux0c3nIMKzVeW4ODu_r2deqtHHhOr60QZYjpYGbXVQuPqgi3AZW2I5h-Tgk7xuMDrXXKnMbvF2ks6aGinEmPSDrjaztus8z-V_M2OdCyk/s200/blogger-image-1362613374.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The blue pass is a base for the first round of white rings and chains. My hope is that I can drop a few rings and chains down each corner to make it quite ruffled. Any thoughts on this?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As I am a collector, I have a huge stash of vintage hankies. My goal is to tat a wedding hanky each year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But, for now, must get ready for another day of jury duty..... (The judge actually warned the jury there was to be no knitting.....he didn't say anything about tatting......). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Happy Tatting!!</div>

I have been nursing my elbow. The 'gym' injury which might also be tendonitis caused by excessive tatting has healed.<br>
<br>
During the winter holidays I picked up my shuttles and tatted a simple snowflake<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTr-XshlBQ-8rm0xcpO9TQ8T1Ty7pkQpwcLRyfCcpr19ZdJtG5UsdTZCcf-XsS-7l3C95gIRRuTRY8BJHl8SRW_YpzEPRaB-Gs1SLfzP1I0Pd2m8w5Km07RSLPN1StaTPaF6Ae-fkJT2s/s640/blogger-image-122245490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTr-XshlBQ-8rm0xcpO9TQ8T1Ty7pkQpwcLRyfCcpr19ZdJtG5UsdTZCcf-XsS-7l3C95gIRRuTRY8BJHl8SRW_YpzEPRaB-Gs1SLfzP1I0Pd2m8w5Km07RSLPN1StaTPaF6Ae-fkJT2s/s200/blogger-image-122245490.jpg" width="200"></a></div>
<br>
It felt pretty good so I started a bigger project. I've been wanting to do another stocking. So, over the last six months I've been slowly tatting a combined edge for another holiday stocking. Here is the process and the progress.<br>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br>
Now all there is to do is wash, block, and attach it.<br>
<br>
Although I think the tendonitis has healed, the elbow still feels a bit tender. Therefore, I've been going slowly. Each day I tat for about 1/2 hour. Not enough...but enough.<br>
<br>
In other news.... the year past has been full of good things. I turned 50. Still can't believe the time has passed. We have wonderful neighbors who helped celebrate and are always so gracious. Here is the evidence.... an impromptu surprise party.<br>
<div>
<br>

<br>
I hope I've been bitten by the tatting bug again because I've missed the tatting community. It feels good to be in touch with y'all once again.<br>
<br>
Until the next entry,<br>
Peace!<br>

<br />
My tatting life is so different these days. I used to tat about 2-3 hours each day.... Now, it's down to two-three rings and chains. BUT, I'm tatting!<br />
<br />
I have chosen my next project and need a bit of advice. Mary Konoir is my newest inspiration. I'm going to tat a piece for my family again. This time it's a wedding hankie. I'm going to adapt the Jabot Collar pattern from Mary Konior's Tatting with Visual Patterns. Here's the inspiration.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnKFkJ0121bZPBBI0ijwCOzts2esY7Xz8wpevQEfydmZbcXEO_RXh5ylJG86qXhhghBce0ijuc5WIEwOJxji3Fwi3F_9d7P_RRTWYwjgqTUgU29zDWf_sU9qbdV2L60JGjd4-xwjPYZW8/s1600/inspiration.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnKFkJ0121bZPBBI0ijwCOzts2esY7Xz8wpevQEfydmZbcXEO_RXh5ylJG86qXhhghBce0ijuc5WIEwOJxji3Fwi3F_9d7P_RRTWYwjgqTUgU29zDWf_sU9qbdV2L60JGjd4-xwjPYZW8/s1600/inspiration.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I chose a simple vintage pulled thread hankie for the blank in this project. This first pass of simple rings and chains will be tatted in a light blue. I'm hoping the color won't be too overpowering for the remaining white rows. Your opinions on this will be greatly appreciated!! I've started the row and will probably continue. However, plans are to tat a second hankie if the current project turns out well. I'll begin the jabot pattern on the next row.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkmcdeGvltCttrQCqtxySlXHwPnupAD0M_4fdYwsj_HfWyuFnkYs-2AT9ZetQU6cSVnLoWOJEOGevI2PM-MXazVj5TKf2GLKdrv4qtQCJ-f29duONObzDwlsvHaSsffYgKFJpDZcZdEIg/s1600/starting+image.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkmcdeGvltCttrQCqtxySlXHwPnupAD0M_4fdYwsj_HfWyuFnkYs-2AT9ZetQU6cSVnLoWOJEOGevI2PM-MXazVj5TKf2GLKdrv4qtQCJ-f29duONObzDwlsvHaSsffYgKFJpDZcZdEIg/s1600/starting+image.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Have you tatted this pattern before? For those who have, were you happy with the outcome?<br />
<br />
Also, for the corners, I will be manipulating the pattern again. My question is, "should I 'drop' the corners the way Mary did for the front of the collar?" I would only go down about 3 or 4 repeats and then advance to the next side of the hankie. This would provide added 'frilliness' to the overall lace.<br />
<br />
So, I'm hoping my description is clear and you will share your opinions!!<br />
<br />
Until next time, Peace!!<br />

<br />
As the clouds are gray and rain is falling outside, I decided to pause and check out the tatting blog world. I really stuggle not being able to tat as much as I'd like so I live vicariously through you. Still doctoring the elbow.<br />
<br />
Until I have new projects to show, I'll report on some of the projects I've completed and gifted.<br />

Well, I gifted this bonnet to a coworker (Jan) who became a grandmother for the first time. She then gifted it to her daughter and granddaughter.<br />
<br />
With Jan's permission I want to introduce you to Bri.<br />

Well, until the next time, have a wonderful day!!<br />

It's been almost a year since my last post. I've been unable to tat because of the tendinitis in my right elbow resulting in little blogging info regarding tatting. However, It's been quite a year. Let me try to sum it up quickly...<br />
<br />
I had a cancer scare in June of last year...all is clear and there was no cancer.<br />
<br />
I broke my foot in September... So, no running for 8 weeks. No tatting, no running....no positive coping mechanisms... So, I ate my way through anxious days.... Gotta love some cookies!<br />
<br />
All is well!! I'm running and competing again.<br />
<br />
I have always had a fascination for the American Presidency. For those who care about this stuff... And sorry if it offends... I was able to meet our First Lady, Michelle Obama (pictures to follow). I also spontaneously decided to go to the inauguration, drove six hours toward the nation's capital and found a front row spot in the general public section (another pic to follow). Both were amazing experiences I will never forget.<br />
<br />
Finally, I have slowly started to tat again. Here is the final product of the "endless edge without a cause".<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBX56xQ9kINbXmUb20-hhMugd7Tmdbe8XuOeYnFjqIbegW-nbtW3xe_lhO0ktMqw-ob7LCn2Mdss3m0WXJ55t-3utxAjm6uGTJQnrHkISq8Hsg9cZ1lJ_qfhtidISSN_efuDWYCMhaWAE/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBX56xQ9kINbXmUb20-hhMugd7Tmdbe8XuOeYnFjqIbegW-nbtW3xe_lhO0ktMqw-ob7LCn2Mdss3m0WXJ55t-3utxAjm6uGTJQnrHkISq8Hsg9cZ1lJ_qfhtidISSN_efuDWYCMhaWAE/s320/image.jpg" /></a><br />
I believe it will someday be the bottom edge of a christening gown.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7EdI7UuaKMkL1XojhexUhaWw7V0forhzbe51x9lCAC0E_Qhxwv62Kb8qbOPAZeA2ahUeCEUVcXju6lTTQGitwqgJPVYnnAyUvedKApe9ex5NOrNRaGN-6XNDspe1otBaz28P1ej8fS44/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7EdI7UuaKMkL1XojhexUhaWw7V0forhzbe51x9lCAC0E_Qhxwv62Kb8qbOPAZeA2ahUeCEUVcXju6lTTQGitwqgJPVYnnAyUvedKApe9ex5NOrNRaGN-6XNDspe1otBaz28P1ej8fS44/s320/image.jpg" /></a> <br />
The elbow still hurts... I guess it's time for the doctor.<br />
<br />
And here are two very important days in my life...<br />
The day before the November elections<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-H6eaN2qC6eeltgObu6UyZJSpY-LLBvfhZFrOoLSgW5wUHUIIJ0PrqLN6sp3QnV_dqCWZUbDrW6Su5_Dt0WIxsC7Kiz2C4Zf7Bgz9VrAvm6GmWXFw8uDDra19OX0TtrT9U4pi0W_7-qg/s1600/image.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-H6eaN2qC6eeltgObu6UyZJSpY-LLBvfhZFrOoLSgW5wUHUIIJ0PrqLN6sp3QnV_dqCWZUbDrW6Su5_Dt0WIxsC7Kiz2C4Zf7Bgz9VrAvm6GmWXFw8uDDra19OX0TtrT9U4pi0W_7-qg/s320/image.jpg" /></a><br />

<br />
I made a few decisions.<br />
<br />
1. The length of the 'edge without a cause' has been determined. It's as long as it's going to get. Not exactly sure in this moment how long that is...but, It's near 4 feet long<br />
<br />
2. The combined patterns look like the following...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Wj8rwxxjCxrveWmIFaf3KzgtiOIqtZSAJXcOQqYwp-DXvcjG7FalKXebhlum-5dbMNORAmCZPzRqRZ81BTexc2mn3OApQu1psMRjhGGcAp72BvSL_PPBszMenmW5sTSAUdW2xaMpGto/s1600/last+pass2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0Wj8rwxxjCxrveWmIFaf3KzgtiOIqtZSAJXcOQqYwp-DXvcjG7FalKXebhlum-5dbMNORAmCZPzRqRZ81BTexc2mn3OApQu1psMRjhGGcAp72BvSL_PPBszMenmW5sTSAUdW2xaMpGto/s320/last+pass2.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
3. After I finish this edge over the next week and 1/2, I need to take a break.<br />
<br />
Embarrassingly, I have tendonitis as a result of tatting.....geesh!<br />
<br />
That's a tough one for a guy to admit in public. Therefore, if anyone asks....I got it from heavy lifting in the gym. :-)<br />
<br />
I actually do go to the gym frequently and will be working on the strength of my forearms in order to counteract the movement of tatting. Hopefully, I'll be able to tat and strengthen the forearm. Until then.... watch my back....no, really, it's a gym injury. <br />
<br />
Have a wonderful day and happy tatting!!<br />
JohnJohnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06976596048515839025noreply@blogger.com41tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1668959928927348944.post-73673071655473126332012-06-05T22:05:00.002-04:002012-06-05T22:05:28.204-04:00Tatting.... but bored...Greetings to you all!! I've been tatting but have little to show. Sorta. I've got a long rambling post with a few more pictures than usual.<br />
<br />
I'm working on Three projects. However, there's not been alot of variety in my tatting recently. Here is the most interesting piece of tatting. It's the crown piece for another baby bonnet. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg53GgamddEG0xf2k5LChZRYAH9sPo-5vNgbOrL7fwAza0xXi3-Eq5GE1mTqhYF2p-eeoyi6qHZ5uZNLlLZGq-IEZ5a91YRmcVUftDSQowuzmDUPEPgG482YXNYbujOTTvg-tuW7fbr5lw/s1600/DSCN4102.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg53GgamddEG0xf2k5LChZRYAH9sPo-5vNgbOrL7fwAza0xXi3-Eq5GE1mTqhYF2p-eeoyi6qHZ5uZNLlLZGq-IEZ5a91YRmcVUftDSQowuzmDUPEPgG482YXNYbujOTTvg-tuW7fbr5lw/s320/DSCN4102.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUFPv6yJZXhjUd0cAj3dMWCRv_VmzYirxsbED6eDQanPvP6kvtZjg6fMiLZzgqq6pvQ6XbmK3Esgrqi_6xbaAUez-4e5AoFq82wBfHiNZw4jm_yw-l5r77H0ouG3wqrgOWbzU5ZefHwf0/s1600/DSCN4105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUFPv6yJZXhjUd0cAj3dMWCRv_VmzYirxsbED6eDQanPvP6kvtZjg6fMiLZzgqq6pvQ6XbmK3Esgrqi_6xbaAUez-4e5AoFq82wBfHiNZw4jm_yw-l5r77H0ouG3wqrgOWbzU5ZefHwf0/s320/DSCN4105.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
After completing the last bonnet, I wanted to tat and keep a bonnet for my family. So, here is the beginning piece. I really enjoy the richness of the thick piece of lace. In fact, I am finding it difficult to continue tatting the complete bonnet because it would mean altering the flat piece. Tatting Project #1 on hold...<br />
<br />
(just a reminder of the finished piece)<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_OlBnmWEK4_SkWFI_9g154mdd-LrIT3K6XATc08CBqgbYubkB5lG9qRRjSMgsCYaMxCihb5VkKOE87-NtTjiiRBv73koKPrH7U7D7nYSFW3Yq99ZRs_3-df3WhE8p70k2At3Y4M8WVZg/s1600/finished4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="200" width="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_OlBnmWEK4_SkWFI_9g154mdd-LrIT3K6XATc08CBqgbYubkB5lG9qRRjSMgsCYaMxCihb5VkKOE87-NtTjiiRBv73koKPrH7U7D7nYSFW3Yq99ZRs_3-df3WhE8p70k2At3Y4M8WVZg/s200/finished4.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
So, as a result, Project #2...I decided to pick up the fillet panel and try to get it to a desired length; a length that will match the endless edge. It is desperately boring. chain, chain, chain, chain, chain..... you've got it.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhATPjN4qokBLTw-JkcAAsXNjDbkGfysCB-52Kk1_i4jTkRgPsdlZYdy3sTUTc9kSndxRFIXCE_ZFqeNVk-6ujkr2N-OiIWV3LyRBZgFzqfLuWo4hYxkubyKRDj9fx0T-qmkBbmdfCaAkQ/s1600/DSCN4029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhATPjN4qokBLTw-JkcAAsXNjDbkGfysCB-52Kk1_i4jTkRgPsdlZYdy3sTUTc9kSndxRFIXCE_ZFqeNVk-6ujkr2N-OiIWV3LyRBZgFzqfLuWo4hYxkubyKRDj9fx0T-qmkBbmdfCaAkQ/s320/DSCN4029.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
I began thinking... (always dangerous)... with the work I'm putting into the fillet panel, I'd hate for it not to be part of a family piece....so, I started creating in my mind. Here is what I'm thinking. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5DtUWzWca3u0aewpA5x955JgMPrHRmr6MimwSJWvLVt6ShZHuiXowKyPV3iMclrP1WNOrycPGqwvE9M3u65ZoyhLs6Dz8ksX2XUeZMng7l540P3FRLHwa_0BYBEMpkCVRV7ik1Mjh23k/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5DtUWzWca3u0aewpA5x955JgMPrHRmr6MimwSJWvLVt6ShZHuiXowKyPV3iMclrP1WNOrycPGqwvE9M3u65ZoyhLs6Dz8ksX2XUeZMng7l540P3FRLHwa_0BYBEMpkCVRV7ik1Mjh23k/s320/photo4.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
I placed the fillet over the bonnet piece...now look. Obviously, the piece under the fillet will not be there....I'll be creating another piece of wide lace to match the bonnet. It will be the hem for a christening gown and will match the crown piece of the baby bonnet.<br />
<br />
Project #3 What about the endless edge or 'the edge without a cause'? Here is that edge which is my current project... <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1fx7Pi5h5YWTmlH1LPRo7ldu6MEXCbbfFr3ImRecHQFFu-QSC0PIn4ijAhdcBacgFtMqDOEzRE0tNQ2q9uteT2jvLllMU4IGtj0o4ZXz8kOCkMDr4BS3pgSoQrc4_MT4RWMmS21VMLSs/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1fx7Pi5h5YWTmlH1LPRo7ldu6MEXCbbfFr3ImRecHQFFu-QSC0PIn4ijAhdcBacgFtMqDOEzRE0tNQ2q9uteT2jvLllMU4IGtj0o4ZXz8kOCkMDr4BS3pgSoQrc4_MT4RWMmS21VMLSs/s320/photo.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
I decided that the loose form of the current edge needed something different than the fillet panel...so, I'm attaching a familiar two pass edge. <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwrYGAl78iNywkg7NTUdsa7l3r887dZxFXtK8YRUbp85-gayXkMikgW4dLEqca3Hwd_BsnF3B4kRhgJu0CEDNoYdodD7fHeJ3h7fcOBd7fFdguHl4heOAD-bUqNOfTvrRBU1FYn7uvIJw/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwrYGAl78iNywkg7NTUdsa7l3r887dZxFXtK8YRUbp85-gayXkMikgW4dLEqca3Hwd_BsnF3B4kRhgJu0CEDNoYdodD7fHeJ3h7fcOBd7fFdguHl4heOAD-bUqNOfTvrRBU1FYn7uvIJw/s320/photo3.JPG" /></a><br />
<br />
Then, I believe the endless edge will have an end... But, I must ask you all, "how long should an edging be if it has no purpose?" votes please!<br />
<br />
All that rambling...I hope you can decipher the content and make sense of it. I'm going to try to be a bit more attentive to your posts as I have missed the blog world! Have a wonderful day!!<br />

<br />
I'm learning to be careful not to commit to producing major tatting pieces for expectant mothers and grandmothers....(with a grin)... unless I want the urgency of deadline to guide my tatting endeavors. It's not the recipients who are pressuring me...it my crazy perfectionist self.<br />
<br />
I believe I am about finished with my first tatted baby bonnet. There are many comments to be made about this piece.<br />
<br />
Here are a few photos of the bonnet as it stands.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVZz_EmJ_VbH-qd3QMRtkn92KGVtyMAPENYqgB4EBsYvwkb25tZwLSi8kubCcGNBPzs4JlD6V_iE8BVcLeArVFlc6NG4XRHjJkeOGsefz0Gm38lFTKM1irRO11TyUhsW2IAKoMovehY3g/s1600/extentiond.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVZz_EmJ_VbH-qd3QMRtkn92KGVtyMAPENYqgB4EBsYvwkb25tZwLSi8kubCcGNBPzs4JlD6V_iE8BVcLeArVFlc6NG4XRHjJkeOGsefz0Gm38lFTKM1irRO11TyUhsW2IAKoMovehY3g/s320/extentiond.JPG" /></a></div><br />
It took me awhile to figure out how to attach the two pieces of tatting. I began improvising the garden path between the two pieces and occasionally joined where it seemed most appropriate. It caused some gathering... I thought I might snip it out and begin again...until I started to really like the gathering and noticed it looking a bit more 'lacy' and not flat or 'fussy'.<br />
<br />
I started in the middle and worked my way out. Because the garden path pattern is asymmetrcal I needed to be a bit creative with the connective work. The back is gathered by a ribbon that can be retied as the baby's head grows. I don't mind the gather either. I will work to perfect the bow and maybe insert a slightly wider ribbon over the top.<br />
<br />
In the end, I'm quite happy with the outcome and will probably try to duplicate this one more time.<br />
<br />
So, there it is.<br />
<br />
Oh, about the shuttle from my Great Aunt Lucy... I actually have a copy of the patent... and now I'm even more interested in the hook. Some of you have shown me a hook pointing out. However, this one hooks back toward the shuttle. I'll try to get a good picture of it and post in the next blog entry.<br />
<br />
Until then,<br />
Happy tatting and have a wonderful day!!<br />

She was a wonderful woman who loved her family. All of us converged onto Northwest Ohio to memorialize and celebrate.... which we do very well.<br />
<br />
It is spring in Ohio. The temperatures are warmer and the flowering bulbs are beginning to reach for the sky. The crocuses are out and almost spent for the year. Below you see the wonderful clusters of crocuses in my Aunt Mariann's front yard. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbANGquUCGH3XZi_bbHSQFPqJhtp84Xlax5H1yAMc0mUOmtzTMnFJqz9XCmURAWp_VuNHpbHmu7RkR7Alo2zSF8LXlXpf1q5j-jpHEIFDsPdKTx3J9KBsrZqzKFwqOvT50rDfd617Oq3U/s1600/flowers3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbANGquUCGH3XZi_bbHSQFPqJhtp84Xlax5H1yAMc0mUOmtzTMnFJqz9XCmURAWp_VuNHpbHmu7RkR7Alo2zSF8LXlXpf1q5j-jpHEIFDsPdKTx3J9KBsrZqzKFwqOvT50rDfd617Oq3U/s320/flowers3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
As we sat at the wake on Tuesday, my mother bragged to other family members about her tatting son....(geeeeshhh). Having been self-taught, I never knew whether there were any other tatters in my family. One of our cousins described a shuttle she had from our Great Aunt Lucy Freyenberger (1878-1979). Surprisingly, she stated that she wanted to give it to me. I know how important our family heirlooms are and the traditions that follow them. To my amazement, she handed me a box before the funeral and in it was the shuttle below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5LazoyaPUMUdn585qnqbjgwvqmfHxi4oOl8phh_Iek7Naktg1LTzQQ3KAeZrNM6eEJoDlBB9Ks_FU6UD0hf9KtcCdX5GHK6zidrXCms3NHzViXJlE4kpPwt-yhVtnEPDq9ghczXl7BS8/s1600/full+shuttle+back+bobbin+in.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5LazoyaPUMUdn585qnqbjgwvqmfHxi4oOl8phh_Iek7Naktg1LTzQQ3KAeZrNM6eEJoDlBB9Ks_FU6UD0hf9KtcCdX5GHK6zidrXCms3NHzViXJlE4kpPwt-yhVtnEPDq9ghczXl7BS8/s320/full+shuttle+back+bobbin+in.JPG" /></a></div><br />
It's a Boye shuttle with a patent date of April 10, 1917. I thought..., "oh, cool another metal Boye shuttle."<br />
<br />
But wait, I pulled out the bobbin and was very surprised to find it attached.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw_c-V6_9TNKEWt29284UdireDz-XupdTw3C9z5ZOXyTDv2UY8pO0tutauKJAivzIhCnIsyqYzvbB-Gwj5jNJZmvQC7EIUckRetHF-lrCF_44aYCVRcge8BExQ2fCUZ8WIt9TTKSkRYm4/s1600/closeup+of+bobbin+from.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw_c-V6_9TNKEWt29284UdireDz-XupdTw3C9z5ZOXyTDv2UY8pO0tutauKJAivzIhCnIsyqYzvbB-Gwj5jNJZmvQC7EIUckRetHF-lrCF_44aYCVRcge8BExQ2fCUZ8WIt9TTKSkRYm4/s320/closeup+of+bobbin+from.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I have never seen a shuttle like this and need to research it a bit. Additionally, the point on the shuttle is bent back on itself. I don't know if this was standard, if Great Aunt Lucy bent is intentionally, or if it's been bent over the years of storage.<br />
<br />
If you have knowledge of these shuttles, I'd be very interested in learning more.<br />
<br />
And one more note....the baby bonnet is finished all but hiding two ends and adding ribbon. I will post something in the next couple days.<br />
<br />
Until then, Happy Tatting!<br />
peace,<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOBoClROv9KzzZVKGnUAsbOtGJ5q5p02GlwMburqtK7Iv6xEKpF8vTLoWrAdWoG8s2ko2kCYjevtH28aiBJbyW52tK9JADE51xHXoTdpVoD2sL7yNSkE2ulQuw8zDs8px1oaFrrxlGBKA/s1600/extentiond.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOBoClROv9KzzZVKGnUAsbOtGJ5q5p02GlwMburqtK7Iv6xEKpF8vTLoWrAdWoG8s2ko2kCYjevtH28aiBJbyW52tK9JADE51xHXoTdpVoD2sL7yNSkE2ulQuw8zDs8px1oaFrrxlGBKA/s320/extentiond.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I began the little 'bump up' with a single five petal flower and improvised a bit of the 'garden path'. I hope to work chains and clover leafs to attach the back to the top of the bonnet. The length of each chain will have to be improvised to smooth out the roundedness of the back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxpfreeJw0vVWhrAel5jhBreidBrnoNs8B9zD2Out2T20Ypa4cwZU00Dtwgu8TF18H5kBUNVcFd9uD1ka6nP2PoOKZga_sVFCKdWlazKCdOoAlZrBimpA8TlRNl40QmGBosCpNiL6eSEc/s1600/extentione.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxpfreeJw0vVWhrAel5jhBreidBrnoNs8B9zD2Out2T20Ypa4cwZU00Dtwgu8TF18H5kBUNVcFd9uD1ka6nP2PoOKZga_sVFCKdWlazKCdOoAlZrBimpA8TlRNl40QmGBosCpNiL6eSEc/s320/extentione.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I will probably attach a bit of the #50 edge onto the bottom of the back. This will allow me to add a ribbon to the bottom of the back.<br />
<br />
Now, off topic. I don't know why my pictures are uploading in the portrait position rather than the landscape position. I've been taking them with my iphone. This (for some) may make sense...it just puzzles me. So, I retook the pictures and just settled for the portrait pics.<br />
<br />
I hope you have a wonderful day!!<br />
john<br />Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06976596048515839025noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1668959928927348944.post-68885337959983266342012-03-04T11:01:00.003-05:002012-03-04T11:02:56.525-05:00Why is it that I don't do anything simply....?!I'm working on the back part of the baby bonnet. And yes, just to remind you, I'm not using a published pattern....*I ask myself "WHY???!!!* <br />
<br />
Normal is not one of my usual labels. I've been trying to figure out why I'm not satisfied with the older baby bonnet patterns. It may be because they appear to be a bit flimsy...but, I don't know that to be true. Oh, well I'll keep plugging along with my version.<br />
<br />
Here is the progress so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0z8ArgmdN42SqIndYMU5L-_uOegvbuM64t2PFh3UTB-6tJy0D_MnrwAz3qF-vKiiJyAIuJQ1EdtrpFmnTFgT1Avp1y0ujXljICsrqkmmSlgOvMOZWcUiG5Vn3w50hv9G2lVsqpxQFHuA/s1600/part2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0z8ArgmdN42SqIndYMU5L-_uOegvbuM64t2PFh3UTB-6tJy0D_MnrwAz3qF-vKiiJyAIuJQ1EdtrpFmnTFgT1Avp1y0ujXljICsrqkmmSlgOvMOZWcUiG5Vn3w50hv9G2lVsqpxQFHuA/s320/part2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
As I'm tatting this row, I begin to think that I need the back to be a bit more 'oval' than half round. So, I believe I'm going to add a couple small flowers in the middle of the next round. This will begin to stretch the half round into an oval in addition to bringing the flowers of the top into the back of the bonnet.<br />
<br />
Here's another look. So, what do you think? Half round or somewhat oval? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidD3G_8gNrtga9X2VeYLN87xgBFCI46BV3F_AmxWSY2d2o4cDyGWAy05xewXqRp1cJuDiqrJ2MhybpxVubDc38dH7IynLg9_NpteIQUCFlNNJ_0GODCq0tZRGvpzKAFpJ5ciq05xvcymc/s1600/part23.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidD3G_8gNrtga9X2VeYLN87xgBFCI46BV3F_AmxWSY2d2o4cDyGWAy05xewXqRp1cJuDiqrJ2MhybpxVubDc38dH7IynLg9_NpteIQUCFlNNJ_0GODCq0tZRGvpzKAFpJ5ciq05xvcymc/s320/part23.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I will probably finish the row and add the flowers this evening. I'll show you the progress when I can figure out if it's the 'right' thing to do.<br />
<br />
Until then,<br />
PEACE!<br />

I've been quietly tatting and processing life. Finding it difficult to figure out what to say and how to say it, I know we have lost a wonderful woman in the tatting world. This then is a small tribute to the Tatting Goddess, Gina. Never having met her, it was a uniquely vicarious loss. She was a wonderful presence in this cyber world and always supportive in her comments. All the way to her end here on this earth she was so very supportive and kind. So, Rest In Peace dear, Gina! You will be missed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeu_ieIyoIPj_9yg_Y769moAnbNiXEdfMPqgu0III3OEUfFbaOsnNAOKoWoHFi4xlTAY5vwd-aOMqgHl__fmRgrUev5g9GS5B4SUxKng8LGOM2wa68oU9XhSSvXuGEzMfVFP6KKXrMhnI/s1600/gse_multipart57920.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="220" width="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeu_ieIyoIPj_9yg_Y769moAnbNiXEdfMPqgu0III3OEUfFbaOsnNAOKoWoHFi4xlTAY5vwd-aOMqgHl__fmRgrUev5g9GS5B4SUxKng8LGOM2wa68oU9XhSSvXuGEzMfVFP6KKXrMhnI/s320/gse_multipart57920.jpg" /></a></div><br />
As I said, I've been tatting. I believe this project is appropriate to show you with this tribute to Gina as it definately will depict the continuation of life and our art. Here is a look at the next project...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNuZDFw9qJFAWe0z9tQamIvDlp-XAfgi5bJdxf2AMjr6RbEF4QnzK-broHTcrLXSRnlzXwEvIniLkkoi77nd2mvTWI2D_oFlWuNwMC9D1RewWDt1NFHqEKdXkYGdMQ5pTcGjJotLsRnS0/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNuZDFw9qJFAWe0z9tQamIvDlp-XAfgi5bJdxf2AMjr6RbEF4QnzK-broHTcrLXSRnlzXwEvIniLkkoi77nd2mvTWI2D_oFlWuNwMC9D1RewWDt1NFHqEKdXkYGdMQ5pTcGjJotLsRnS0/s320/photo3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I'm working on a baby bonnet....and of course, I'm not following anybody's pattern. I am using a couple patterns published out there for the base of the work. You may recognize the 'Down the Garden Path' by Pam Palmer as well as pattern #50 from the Catherine Austin book "A New Twist on Tatting". I'm combining the patterns to create the top of the bonnet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw0-461A9MOKJ77Wpw55O-Zj_-lNM5MPQDZkTW__NyrMsk4EUbkczGffsLYr7jxhdZwtAzI2XaVgRLhbPUaLNNAejc7SChZpJdq8OXlQ4nd1c44tTy5C6E1ya-ZT4LLAidMM29-fuBEv8/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw0-461A9MOKJ77Wpw55O-Zj_-lNM5MPQDZkTW__NyrMsk4EUbkczGffsLYr7jxhdZwtAzI2XaVgRLhbPUaLNNAejc7SChZpJdq8OXlQ4nd1c44tTy5C6E1ya-ZT4LLAidMM29-fuBEv8/s320/photo4.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I will then create something for the back of the bonnet. I hope to begin that part later tomorrow or later in the week. I may have several questions as I approach the back.<br />
<br />
I'll check back in and keep you posted on the progress.<br />
<br />
Until then, please be safe and treat yourself with respect!!<br />

<br />
The final, final edition of 'Christmas stocking prototype #1'. I am so happy with the outcome. Several things learned along the way.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu65TSc5GyCEF81dP13dVEKTts-mVyiQHePNfMGzVHaEB6ha96lzNf7IuCpwiE1oQKGcblsVMDCmTNPZ5wSgBklnnpSLgzummrctsw893AFeNKu2rm2egukgPxMZ7mZ1-TeUWw7koja9A/s1600/hang1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu65TSc5GyCEF81dP13dVEKTts-mVyiQHePNfMGzVHaEB6ha96lzNf7IuCpwiE1oQKGcblsVMDCmTNPZ5wSgBklnnpSLgzummrctsw893AFeNKu2rm2egukgPxMZ7mZ1-TeUWw7koja9A/s320/hang1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Here is a picture with a shuttle for perspective.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXsuq8H0VYySQ0QI3j6g9A4Uuvf4mYKVHDiaJYL6pU3PKBrT0cMw2TCPUnyPN5MLhaXsBkyDSN8GHqYI_sb3klcu9vomMhexi-iTk8CoZyugDWl88xCJ6TCc66VYs2F5449ss1hn56soA/s1600/clear2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXsuq8H0VYySQ0QI3j6g9A4Uuvf4mYKVHDiaJYL6pU3PKBrT0cMw2TCPUnyPN5MLhaXsBkyDSN8GHqYI_sb3klcu9vomMhexi-iTk8CoZyugDWl88xCJ6TCc66VYs2F5449ss1hn56soA/s320/clear2.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
The question of the day....will I continue obsessing over Christmas stockings? Or, is there another project calling my name?<br />
<br />
I'm sure you've been wondering about our twelve step program......I'm ignoring the entire idea of tatting addiction. But, will need to remind myself sometime in the near future to breathe....oh, wait! That's what this addiction is all about. Breathe in, breathe out...tat!<br />
<br />
Have a wonderful day!<br />

<br />
Here is the final decision regarding the placement of the lace on the first stocking.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaAThq0p0N8_6HGfPlIDsQuxl57eeKm4g6kf-rln87QQMp8q1wClQn2fpZ6nuVY0Vp1zhzOmbuybQoD7crazq4zBJnK1ZiKdOPFR39lRAFOsvlTIZTsruFPwcXYoWkHJR_TMxvaKn9IAA/s1600/finalplacement.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaAThq0p0N8_6HGfPlIDsQuxl57eeKm4g6kf-rln87QQMp8q1wClQn2fpZ6nuVY0Vp1zhzOmbuybQoD7crazq4zBJnK1ZiKdOPFR39lRAFOsvlTIZTsruFPwcXYoWkHJR_TMxvaKn9IAA/s320/finalplacement.JPG" /></a></div><br />
After all your wonderful comments and suggestions I started to fiddle with the lace on the stocking. Then, I realized you all were right. Some said, 'the top of the stocking' while others said, 'dangling from the lower edge'. Well, how about splitting the difference?<br />
<br />
It made all the difference...at least in my humble opinion.<br />
<br />
I blocked the lace. It was quite interesting trying to figure out how to block both sides. So, here was my process.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilq277rs9L9HzpAnjV8SGkMesPBnd2i4x_yV_JC_xC1DHvrazQW0y-aj5OKHizESJfGFxEOhxIXzYgWdo0OLkxccGM-NUYSpe-aKsDJ6-CP0gkxDAnXm_vZi1zRH3W_M2LBbuVUX0tD4I/s1600/blocking7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilq277rs9L9HzpAnjV8SGkMesPBnd2i4x_yV_JC_xC1DHvrazQW0y-aj5OKHizESJfGFxEOhxIXzYgWdo0OLkxccGM-NUYSpe-aKsDJ6-CP0gkxDAnXm_vZi1zRH3W_M2LBbuVUX0tD4I/s320/blocking7.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0kgFb7jljyg4F0i6sL3pfYWIbrZshpl4pmSWVpXIFCCzGOH2TlE4o6_MyO3xPdc7v6GKxrZfYgOt6LCnibAcKm6HVbFqkjc-HYseBark3ACKxjvCc4DvzH_cqerV7YUIMqDdSU8c_moA/s1600/blocking2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0kgFb7jljyg4F0i6sL3pfYWIbrZshpl4pmSWVpXIFCCzGOH2TlE4o6_MyO3xPdc7v6GKxrZfYgOt6LCnibAcKm6HVbFqkjc-HYseBark3ACKxjvCc4DvzH_cqerV7YUIMqDdSU8c_moA/s320/blocking2.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiM8ARzkAHvF_AG8kNN9SsicCoRZGKSz_oTbt0gG9hndjdNbOl-RA2XZI78jgGDwO_ONryRPg32MawNdIiUTpOKz_NiF0mqdhDaeJwpBj8aVN4jZFsAjD7GhiRR99YhAkJr8zGJpRgbSk/s1600/blocking1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiM8ARzkAHvF_AG8kNN9SsicCoRZGKSz_oTbt0gG9hndjdNbOl-RA2XZI78jgGDwO_ONryRPg32MawNdIiUTpOKz_NiF0mqdhDaeJwpBj8aVN4jZFsAjD7GhiRR99YhAkJr8zGJpRgbSk/s320/blocking1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
And now for some 'artsy' pics<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMkdvsuSv_JQjDUmKHVe52Z-KzO1Av4tgc9XNhKU9rLDP7WBKzw7OZLEBia-wKIpVjbBPHhTkHZAqlDzB6IqUAaEj32MlevqNfvqUHW6ba9FavQE9CaizIEm1kdAeIlGzjremTN0ylXbk/s1600/blocking6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMkdvsuSv_JQjDUmKHVe52Z-KzO1Av4tgc9XNhKU9rLDP7WBKzw7OZLEBia-wKIpVjbBPHhTkHZAqlDzB6IqUAaEj32MlevqNfvqUHW6ba9FavQE9CaizIEm1kdAeIlGzjremTN0ylXbk/s320/blocking6.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6M59xXtFT1wEQBm8l-uBJR-mtjtu0sOcnranMgUydyyajbh-P_LmeR0D22RTgFFYQTsTLHv0kbqBGyGPqc8HlD0O-Ohk_H8pg19JhfPqpfaK_IXsMRmB-E5N-Mn-DetLza-EY1l2o1_U/s1600/blocking3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6M59xXtFT1wEQBm8l-uBJR-mtjtu0sOcnranMgUydyyajbh-P_LmeR0D22RTgFFYQTsTLHv0kbqBGyGPqc8HlD0O-Ohk_H8pg19JhfPqpfaK_IXsMRmB-E5N-Mn-DetLza-EY1l2o1_U/s320/blocking3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
As you see, I don't pin every picot. That's a bit too tedious for me.<br />
<br />
I have begun to attach the lace and will be done some time this evening. I'll then take pics and let you see the final project. And Finally, You will be spared of my endless drivel about the 'Christmas stocking'.<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a wonderful day!!<br />

<br />
Yesterday was spent trying to 'perfect' the Christmas stocking. By that, I'm referring to the actual stocking. I figured out how to keep the top seam from puckering and now have two sizes. I'll show the two in just a bit.<br />
<br />
Your comments are all VERY useful. I see that I'm going to have to do a series of stockings. I think you all are right...(if there is a right and wrong to this). I've not...well, let me show you.<br />
<br />
Below are the two smaller stockings with the tatting on the very top and one with it hanging from the 'flipped out' edge.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH8JDtylO1FeJupfDSLZTP5qMJtidXIRRcqp3_u2YSiy3I9RurfJdG5rr1AHdBUFsxz78FoVIaxEvJyTTHbrgYmIysHybNRrfSpZ8u3Ylry7FuIAvJrGJRqEQi6Mqfa6VDEGtecxvqGhs/s1600/2stockings1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH8JDtylO1FeJupfDSLZTP5qMJtidXIRRcqp3_u2YSiy3I9RurfJdG5rr1AHdBUFsxz78FoVIaxEvJyTTHbrgYmIysHybNRrfSpZ8u3Ylry7FuIAvJrGJRqEQi6Mqfa6VDEGtecxvqGhs/s320/2stockings1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh95yPTFsEhG_FVu530sgnbfdQzDgwKf2rt2UyUr5m0oPlvCFWz55C9WfGa2xt_ZrlgeHER5MYED_kdeUsI-y8Ex5VPL4v1A3hp5eqXIFehsQL-WEiRiHLD9ZOA199aVIrEfC-i42ukST8/s1600/2+stockings+edging+down.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh95yPTFsEhG_FVu530sgnbfdQzDgwKf2rt2UyUr5m0oPlvCFWz55C9WfGa2xt_ZrlgeHER5MYED_kdeUsI-y8Ex5VPL4v1A3hp5eqXIFehsQL-WEiRiHLD9ZOA199aVIrEfC-i42ukST8/s320/2+stockings+edging+down.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Both are pleasing on some level.<br />
<br />
The snowflake is not a 'must have'. It's another possibility.<br />
<br />
Now, here is the third, larger stocking. I'm actually really pleased with the outcome of the stocking. One little change for the future...I'll shorted the 'flipped out' satin lining by 1/2 inch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxdAiSFub3cKWq4BkMgPJkyrOfJWwQmYqKIjJmegXQCtmZ_xpUeQ4StjT1KIKjpL_tUjmO9jQnEqHmH5MjjRkzhsKNSYna2OqB6DytMGP7RzxvFhA0LFJk3uQCx-yp3RkuHLGy6v4CmQ/s1600/3+stockings+edge+up3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxdAiSFub3cKWq4BkMgPJkyrOfJWwQmYqKIjJmegXQCtmZ_xpUeQ4StjT1KIKjpL_tUjmO9jQnEqHmH5MjjRkzhsKNSYna2OqB6DytMGP7RzxvFhA0LFJk3uQCx-yp3RkuHLGy6v4CmQ/s320/3+stockings+edge+up3.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The angle of the photo is a bit odd...making the toe look a bit wonky. None to worry, I don't think it looks that way in person.<br />
<br />
So, as you see, I'm on my way and have my very own projects for future gifting.<br />
<br />
Have a great day!!<br />
john<br />Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06976596048515839025noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1668959928927348944.post-64658965856146370742012-01-07T20:27:00.000-05:002012-01-07T20:27:59.407-05:00Yes.....I'm aliveSorry for the extended absence! I've been a bit busy lately enjoying the break between semesters. A Happy New Year to you all!!<br />
<br />
If I recall....we left off with Step Two of the twelve steps for addicted tatters.<br />
<br />
Well, step three is just going to have to wait for a bit longer. I'm ignoring my addiction at this moment and just trying to figure a few things out.<br />
<br />
My absence was due to a secret project. I wanted to complete the first demo before blogging about it...however, I need opinions from my tatting peeps. So, here is the project.<br />
<br />
I started tatting an edge over the Thanksgiving break. I wanted to do something that looked like icicles for the top edge of a Christmas stocking. So, here was the beginning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgDgZA_PkvaXPSTI2BvH8hMf2Opaz-3NYYrNFU97RBr3BBoVNFDTqxjcnQJE3hGTF0Fo0WRImLXc3CfFI0LIl_yvn2Qk_PfkZ4CEP0VU4SxaORXnMtPpFLCp7xUlHcNFqw4HAeuX60n7A/s1600/beginning.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgDgZA_PkvaXPSTI2BvH8hMf2Opaz-3NYYrNFU97RBr3BBoVNFDTqxjcnQJE3hGTF0Fo0WRImLXc3CfFI0LIl_yvn2Qk_PfkZ4CEP0VU4SxaORXnMtPpFLCp7xUlHcNFqw4HAeuX60n7A/s320/beginning.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I didn't really know what pattern I'd use for the stocking. I just tatted with the idea in mind. I found a pattern and just finished the final sewn stocking this evening. It's a demo... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFGrHa5KiwaGBP6T6fYhbkrrikYP_jASxHii6MpzcD86Su8lZjjHhXnauJRULnV63RkBTAbKkzifZN2PKpswFL8_Jhew3YNvg3lrclmi3NTQVC5Lp57ylvgCPjpDbdwRtpftUMpR5KriU/s1600/just+stocking.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFGrHa5KiwaGBP6T6fYhbkrrikYP_jASxHii6MpzcD86Su8lZjjHhXnauJRULnV63RkBTAbKkzifZN2PKpswFL8_Jhew3YNvg3lrclmi3NTQVC5Lp57ylvgCPjpDbdwRtpftUMpR5KriU/s320/just+stocking.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Here are some close-ups of the tatting. And, NO, it's not attached. The tatting is a bit too big for this stocking. I'll have to enlarge the pattern for this piece of tatted edge. There are several patterns used in the edge. One was adapted from the blomqist book. I added length a clover leaf for the longer icicles. I also added a short motif between each longer icicle. The top of the edge is from Austin's 'A New Twist on Tatting'.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsGbCOhqjfOUXKJxOMKhSmG875F8pipBiAZ1zieAY0VIomXrpPxExrjWfyCO6j4FOwBL7BuwerV-7UQu5n7pfhaszZCe5HH6hhphAfDTESsWhQLIVptW1J6LqLNJU6XgrTJa1eLKFV-fo/s1600/closeup+edge.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsGbCOhqjfOUXKJxOMKhSmG875F8pipBiAZ1zieAY0VIomXrpPxExrjWfyCO6j4FOwBL7BuwerV-7UQu5n7pfhaszZCe5HH6hhphAfDTESsWhQLIVptW1J6LqLNJU6XgrTJa1eLKFV-fo/s320/closeup+edge.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The snowflake is from Jan Stawasz's 'Tatting: Theory and Patterns'<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnjMOTaFWjQnmIFNzBT_XtNti_uB2rpx7ae2YPi3dXWk0LmNIA9TyZSBQRfZfALZ8SsCcuuajRbRFCOHfMVw6uKDKUO28eUCegfMGUiSFPyssZLHnqOsRQ_wfek28dm9U9NiFLNeq1bl0/s1600/full+view1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnjMOTaFWjQnmIFNzBT_XtNti_uB2rpx7ae2YPi3dXWk0LmNIA9TyZSBQRfZfALZ8SsCcuuajRbRFCOHfMVw6uKDKUO28eUCegfMGUiSFPyssZLHnqOsRQ_wfek28dm9U9NiFLNeq1bl0/s320/full+view1.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Now, I've got to figure out how I'm going to attach the edging..<br />
<br />
<br />
Do I attach it to the top of the stocking?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicRgxZgMNEPf70LjljiXWqK0YVy114nYkLM9Du7lDxLtMTXUW-A878kpc48vdd9CmwYWZaPDZWKsQKe6uKOiN8cqjfic40Td6jrCQTfL8OFll8RBSxXHFaBl7fHC9d2El0YkH8V1OV3OA/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicRgxZgMNEPf70LjljiXWqK0YVy114nYkLM9Du7lDxLtMTXUW-A878kpc48vdd9CmwYWZaPDZWKsQKe6uKOiN8cqjfic40Td6jrCQTfL8OFll8RBSxXHFaBl7fHC9d2El0YkH8V1OV3OA/s320/photo.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Do I shorten the turned out lining and attach it on that edge?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIOIwwzG5dQV2dtodcyKwaOY0wiU3eXYLiZs8cVgIDwzBF8NJUb5o63ctgstjvvJtPgWN5tTCQHFwLd4S7IcBQTvNUThiz2U8F7iSaBqFJhpSqql0DPAmXNZuhzLM-b94bQvzyfCfaldc/s1600/full+snowflake+on+top.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIOIwwzG5dQV2dtodcyKwaOY0wiU3eXYLiZs8cVgIDwzBF8NJUb5o63ctgstjvvJtPgWN5tTCQHFwLd4S7IcBQTvNUThiz2U8F7iSaBqFJhpSqql0DPAmXNZuhzLM-b94bQvzyfCfaldc/s320/full+snowflake+on+top.JPG" /></a></div><br />

<br />
Last session we covered step one...<br />
<br />
We admit that we are powerless over tatting -- that our lives have become somewhat more manageable as a result of tatting...well sorta, kinda, maybe not.<br />
<br />
Today we focus on step two...<br />
<br />
We have come to believe that a power great than ourselves (along with tatting once daily) can restore us to sanity...or at least help us maintain a balanced sense of reality in relation to the insane world around us.<br />
<br />
You may need to help me amend this one a bit.<br />
<br />
How do I know I'm addicted? More evidence... I've been holding out on you and hiding a bit of evidence. (I forgot to mention this one because of my own denial) check these books out. I purchased them at tat days. I was so enticed by 'pretty' that I failed to see that the Emmy Liebert book was WRITTEN IN GERMAN...OMG what was I thinking?! I don't speak German...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKpdqKAMEJpA9E8b_19VEboOlgZOMdwBIYrQ_kXVLYizCw4EkEzoJBj6Xl_tUE7D9N6CeKyAKWA0E6n6S2ITfDN0FxqK3zjeqw50hkhA_jB3H5G6Q5YAcr2hdoxn7swcfHxZmjVYtuT-I/s1600/DSCN3831.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKpdqKAMEJpA9E8b_19VEboOlgZOMdwBIYrQ_kXVLYizCw4EkEzoJBj6Xl_tUE7D9N6CeKyAKWA0E6n6S2ITfDN0FxqK3zjeqw50hkhA_jB3H5G6Q5YAcr2hdoxn7swcfHxZmjVYtuT-I/s320/DSCN3831.JPG" /></a></div><br />
I NEED HELP!<br />
<br />
On another note...<br />
<br />
I finished the rings atop the 'endless edge withouth a cause' and have returned to the filet panel<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDDlBBbu1TjMJizcJ1zcAWoAMywpkYB6CY2MJ2-kpJUs5tg4Gzz4cK9_Oz35fdQbhKAkwJwV5pM9eJ0L76EMOJxZNLadpuF4eYz-6jk7DGO8zGnfHcqCcQIILklhWddEMNCio5eS3wZ7Y/s1600/DSCN3823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDDlBBbu1TjMJizcJ1zcAWoAMywpkYB6CY2MJ2-kpJUs5tg4Gzz4cK9_Oz35fdQbhKAkwJwV5pM9eJ0L76EMOJxZNLadpuF4eYz-6jk7DGO8zGnfHcqCcQIILklhWddEMNCio5eS3wZ7Y/s320/DSCN3823.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Here is the inspiration piece, the sampler, and the actual edge. More evidence of addiction. I still don't have a final project in mind other than creating a beautiful piece of lace. I think I've decided that it is the 'right' length at 4' 4" in total.<br />
<br />
Until the next meeting...Peace and happy tatting!<br />

Though I bid on several items...this was the one I guarded to the bitter end. I wanted to get this for mom. She loves to dress in formal attire for various events. This will be wonderful for one of those events.<br />

(for those in actual recovery over addictions...this is in no way meant to be offensive...so, please forgive)<br />
<br />
Step one will sound something like this....<br />
<br />
1. We admit that we are powerless over tatting -- that our lives have become somewhat more manageable as a result of tatting...well sorta, kinda, maybe not.<br />
<br />
Hello! My name is John. I'm addicted to tatting.<br />
<br />
How do I know this you ask? Well, I went to the flea again today. First off I met a dealer there (antique dealer..not the kind you were thinking) who gave me a steal on 50 madeira hankies. As you already know, I have enough hankies waiting for an edge to last me until the year 2080.<br />
<br />
And then there was this. A sterling shuttle with the Greek key pattern embossed around the edges. I saw it a year ago and regretted not getting it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpuzLr-EbvCBVYl0Td4H0q_ZDGkwyzJkqKhysSRsncqZfiP3QWvfWYhLF-wei3fVfbVb9OK-8ABzZ1tTfRbDW08BHywGxFUQS_GZydbJZuw4eJy0YEifj8bAzx_QUcPFL1pibvetrqnbw/s1600/DSCN3804.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpuzLr-EbvCBVYl0Td4H0q_ZDGkwyzJkqKhysSRsncqZfiP3QWvfWYhLF-wei3fVfbVb9OK-8ABzZ1tTfRbDW08BHywGxFUQS_GZydbJZuw4eJy0YEifj8bAzx_QUcPFL1pibvetrqnbw/s320/DSCN3804.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Guess what?! It was still there. Waiting for me and my addiction.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieMfZ2-SxKm_gJWLh_NMaFtL1pp0aVx-R6FFnOBFPvN5Zj2ybFEz2fxAITlKOZ9HgeF5gca197tpE362BZZjuwloeydyQn04DD25vDPQUelceutzNo-9IZrcEBfaif__UZ2KsszinkBb4/s1600/DSCN3805.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieMfZ2-SxKm_gJWLh_NMaFtL1pp0aVx-R6FFnOBFPvN5Zj2ybFEz2fxAITlKOZ9HgeF5gca197tpE362BZZjuwloeydyQn04DD25vDPQUelceutzNo-9IZrcEBfaif__UZ2KsszinkBb4/s320/DSCN3805.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
As if my bender wasn't complete, I ran across this sterling shuttle. Nothing really fancy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsdSnk5TS9GjAP3JY3xxovmB40WfNlu0eKeJBYhhVZD6Qba3wXM7DIyCRpgdig6pHQ6S8fegDasC4YjONMqtb31ZJDm94x_9Jaz6K-M9gCHzigGVgqfbt2HEqUGMZ2uIT5wT-185x8G4c/s1600/DSCN3809.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsdSnk5TS9GjAP3JY3xxovmB40WfNlu0eKeJBYhhVZD6Qba3wXM7DIyCRpgdig6pHQ6S8fegDasC4YjONMqtb31ZJDm94x_9Jaz6K-M9gCHzigGVgqfbt2HEqUGMZ2uIT5wT-185x8G4c/s320/DSCN3809.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Wait for it.....................................................................<br />
<br />
<br />
Flip it over....................................................................<br />
<br />
<br />
And what's it say?........................................................<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Beulah<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ZZrSZlSOPfqMDs6oNQ5VDRPJSJIjjLJsB8Odc09fjwo09bfeUAVtNUBU5lDiN5q8R0ghEz7FeM3z7dWJsvoMB5z7FdD0ZbXkx74xlqiOEeWRPbsjNu5FYSXa0fkZG1hpLlPZNIOI_PY/s1600/DSCN3812.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ZZrSZlSOPfqMDs6oNQ5VDRPJSJIjjLJsB8Odc09fjwo09bfeUAVtNUBU5lDiN5q8R0ghEz7FeM3z7dWJsvoMB5z7FdD0ZbXkx74xlqiOEeWRPbsjNu5FYSXa0fkZG1hpLlPZNIOI_PY/s320/DSCN3812.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Absolutely Priceless!!<br />
<br />
Just what every male tatter needs! A sterling shuttle with the name Beulah engraved in it. OMG!! I was laughing so hard and drew a few looks...that's when you know you have an addiction...when the people around you no longer matter. I couldn't resist getting this one.<br />
<br />
I now have Beulah's shuttle.<br />
<br />
So, you see. I believe I have earned the ability to charter the support group. Who's in with me? I'll keep posting the steps from time to time...just don't take me too seriously.<br />
<br />
God, grant me the serenity....<br />
<br />
Happy tatting! Keep Laughing! Enjoy some peace today!<br />

So, I wanted to show you my 'mess'. I'm practicing the crochet join between two edges and will show that another day. But for now, here's the mess I'm living in. The former 'endless edge' is now being referred to as the 'edge without a cause'. Here is the pile.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdFz5sltECKf5QJSDGHERmsUgDCnZhNw6d8OTqEGOuZA2Dc8dcJYFqEf22SSm-FrjdR5AOdevjKofAuGNkZQewAEgpW6Q_wANKVkfOKMDNzJ___rBAnjaP7AKH5xhKBO-amgpGH-_oU48/s1600/DSCN3802.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdFz5sltECKf5QJSDGHERmsUgDCnZhNw6d8OTqEGOuZA2Dc8dcJYFqEf22SSm-FrjdR5AOdevjKofAuGNkZQewAEgpW6Q_wANKVkfOKMDNzJ___rBAnjaP7AKH5xhKBO-amgpGH-_oU48/s320/DSCN3802.JPG" /></a></div>
Not alot to show..just a pile of lace and my comfy club chair.
I'm working on the filet panel which is narrower in width than the sampler piece. When I get tired of the continuous chains I switch over to tatting the rings to the top of the original edge. It's going to be pretty. However, it's going to take a pretty long time to see the accomplishments.
Funny...looks like pink and purple are my favorite colors....not really, just happen to be the shuttle and container of the moment. Favorites are blue and green.
I'll show you a bit of the tat days loot. I've been hiding my addiction...so, here's the damage from the 'market' as well as the silent auction.

I really appreciate all of the input you provided regarding the width of the filet panel in relation to the 'endless' edge. I decided to use the panel as a sampler. For a reminder, here's the inspiration lace.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCh8XTse-LLbxiRgxGLTQ5Vkd7LqsxFNtjkZ1XbvKICsfFu28BgNIvwVJlMnQA-GomachdGuAbPadcErpbk8Kc_8Z5mNT7vcEpT16mhKi7YR1H6U50dSuB8yo_VsTXOfWNfmC3xmTQuJU/s1600/DSCN3738.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCh8XTse-LLbxiRgxGLTQ5Vkd7LqsxFNtjkZ1XbvKICsfFu28BgNIvwVJlMnQA-GomachdGuAbPadcErpbk8Kc_8Z5mNT7vcEpT16mhKi7YR1H6U50dSuB8yo_VsTXOfWNfmC3xmTQuJU/s320/DSCN3738.JPG" /></a></div>
Realizing that the question was coming from some inner discontent (not really as dramatic as it sounds), I had to listen to my gut. I agree that the panel would have worked as is....But, I decided to try a wider edging with the wider panel.
Here are the edges ready to be crocheted together. (except the loose ends of course)
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAhtZm-rbOAbaa6o6L3T47MDIREck1Z6YqZBdzJUGtNlJ9VpI38Dff_XJfGU-H0Z31e53Gm09NsLDM53CSX0P1Y51Kl6GsFPemf5eTF5kjn1qXXx2awJAAeI5lWTh81yPCaTzKuscgHsk/s1600/DSCN3799.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAhtZm-rbOAbaa6o6L3T47MDIREck1Z6YqZBdzJUGtNlJ9VpI38Dff_XJfGU-H0Z31e53Gm09NsLDM53CSX0P1Y51Kl6GsFPemf5eTF5kjn1qXXx2awJAAeI5lWTh81yPCaTzKuscgHsk/s320/DSCN3799.JPG" /></a></div>
When I tat the new filet, I'll reduce the width. Not only will it be a bit more balanced, it will tat quickly...and with this edge...quick is a good thing!
So, now the task is to try to figure out how to crochet.....
Any suggestions? I've got the hooks, the thread, and I hope, the patience.
I'll keep you posted!
Until then, Happy Tatting!
